Child and Family Coaching

I would like to take a  moment and introduce myself. My name is Nellie Westpy and I am the owner of Hope Community Center. My husband, Anthony and myself had this vision over 15 years ago to create a place where we can help to link arms and strengthen others in our community. We are proud of the services we have and continue to provide here at Hope community Center.

We first created Avodah coaching after one of our four children went through a very difficult time with severe ADHD and anxiety. We not only needed support from others in that difficult season but financially it was a struggle . This is the main reason we joined the worldwide organization, Map Global and began our own nonprofit. We are proud that we can offer a wide variety of coaching services, and no one ever has to worry about paying fees that they can not afford.

Take a moment to think about it. People who are doing their best ,elite athletes, talented singers, violinist, CEOs all hire coaches ! C.S Lewis said “ children should not be a distraction for more important work ,they are the most important work”. I believe we all agree with that statement ,however, children do not come with a manual .As parents we need to have a growth mindset and a drive to continually improve. Our coaching addresses your challenges at hand along with activating principles for positive parenting for future harmony and peace in your hearts and home .

Our Philosophy:

The Hebrew word “Avodah “ is defined work, worship and service. Through our service our coaching will empower parents to be the leader their children will follow. We believe that parenting should be rooted in communication, empathy, connection along with setting a child’s moral compass. Our approach is biblically-based with love and respect to help your family thrive and to bring healing to any wounds that have taken root. Recognizing that our overall wellness is determined by how connected we feel to ourselves and the people and systems in our lives. Our promise to you is that we put everything aside to focus solely on your family and helping you find beauty through the struggles.

Behavior Coach

I have worked with children and families for over 34 years. I hold to BA in early childhood and family psychology as well as being a registered behavior technician. I returned to school in 2021 to become a certified behavior coach which has opened the door to a whole new journey that I have fallen in love with!
I understand that every parent wants what’s best for the child and that these important developmental stages are not easy to navigate through hence the reason why we focus on getting to the core root that the child is facing rather than medicating and masking the issue. Additionally, we work closely alongside the parents involving them and equipping them along the way. I also assist on helping the parents understand what behaviors are healthy, and how to cope as new concerns arise. We equip them with tools and strategies to help their child which only reassures and empowers them  in their parenting journey.
A few strategies that I focus on during sessions are:

  • Building social skills

  • Developing emotion management skills

  • Developing more confidence

  • Enhance problem-solving skills

  • Reduce anxiety and worries
